I’m an experienced qualified Integrative Counsellor, a Registered Member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and an Accredited Member of the National Counselling Society (NCS). Approachable and compassionate, I understand how talking confidentially about your difficulties, with someone who is not involved in your day to day life, can help reduce distress and bring clarity.
Before I became a counsellor
I worked as a manager in the business world for a number of years, leading both small and large teams. Although my role required a business focus, the wellbeing and support of each person in my team was important to me; especially during company re-organisations. My appreciation of how helping people identify and understand the things which hold them back, enables them to change their situation and experience a more satisfying life, eventually led me to train as a counsellor.
My Philosophy
At the heart of my practice is the belief that every human being is an unique individual, the expert in their own life and experiences. I consider every person has the capacity to grow and develop to their full potential, possessing the inner resources to know what is best for them and their situation. As a counsellor my role is not to give you advice, but to ‘walk alongside you’ in your difficulties, supporting you to explore your situation and find ways to live a more content and fulfilled life.
Other work
In addition to my private practice, I’ve been a volunteer counsellor for Carers Support West Sussex for several years. This is a charity offering a range of services to support family and friend carers throughout the county. In the past I’ve also been a volunteer supporter to participants on weekend residential courses for widows and divorcees, helping them to move forward and begin the next chapter of their lives.
